The Little Black Dot

by Brian Jones

Added 6 July 2000

The small black dot
on the back of the white
bathroom door with the green handle
wiggles around in my uneasy chest.

It moved in on me,
where I eyed it so long
that it spoke of living,
where once it was dead.

It explained the insanity
that comes in what-ifs
and the futility of suicide
so that one might live.

Life will be different now,
after this day with the door
and the little black dot that wiggles around
and talks to my soul.
