It Tells

Something in the eyes;
the longing.
It tells.
It tells.

So people stay away.
His need is fearful.
He wants something.
He wants, something.

Eyes track that pretty woman,
that old man and his grandchild.
The Vietnam Vet on
the streetcorner hawking pity.
These are his desires.
These his wants.

To be one with all,
to find the common thread
and know that nothing good
can come from the knowing
that isn't better served
by being content.
