My Only Mortality

The Atlantic cannot drown nor save me.
No ship that plies its surface
could carry or cut me with its keel.

Nearly half a life ago I became a wolf,
and that keeps me from any harm.

I feel, I hurt, I bleed,
I can cease to breathe and grow.
But I am beyond all but my own reproach.

That transformation many years ago
created something beyond bounds,
something more than can be killed,
a concept that can save you,
if you'll only let me try.

My only mortality is yours.
