Ethereal America

The triple story row houses
are ethereal America
in the fluorescent light.
The unreal trees out front
reach out and pull you in
to the look of falseness;
which jumps out like the
spindly shadows on the wall.
No one could live in such a place.
It is too flat.
Anyone who tried
would need a hat
to keep the rain off after
stepping through the door
to find no shelter
on the other side.
Curtains hide the nothing
that lurks on the other side.
The Nobodies opposite the wall
fear seeing the something they are missing.

Misguided apprehensions prevent
the Noones from understanding
that nothing is everything
and that they are everyone.
