This is a section where I post poems sent to me by people who have found my site and wish to display their own works. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
This poem is by Michael Baribeau
Make-believe
We have so far removed ourselves
from nature and the humility of its food chain
with eons of generations breed domesticated
that we can now deny we ever were even beasts
and instead are these supernatural beings
made not by the Earth but the Earth for us,
lulled on the baking shores of reason.
The real world has been rejected in place
of a fabricated one of tools, dreams, and lies
where good and evil are human contrived.
The antelope is not wronged but eaten.
