Extra lighting on a tight budget!

There are a lot of great aftermarket, high-powered driving/off-road lights available. Some of the best are KC's and Hella's. However, if you don't want to spend $100 or more for a nice looking pair of 100 Watt lights, look no further. I purchased a pair of Eclipse 100 Watt off-road lights from the local K-Mart for a mere $30. Are they as good as KC's or Hellas? Probably not. Are they bright? Oh, yes. And for $30, how can you go wrong?

I won't bore you with installation procedures, since they are rather straight-forward, and the instructions that come with the kit are pretty good. The only things I will say regarding the installation are:

  1. The wiring that comes with the kit is rather small. If you have to splice wires into the system to add length, do so with 14 gauge wire.

  2. You might want to consider replacing all of the wiring with 14 gauge wire (though I did not).

  3. I ran my wiring through a hole in the floor behind the brake pedal that I made for a previous lighting adventure (rear lights mounted to my receiver hitch).

Here are some pics of the lights installed on my truck.

If you're in the Tucson area, drop me a line and we can go wheelin' sometime.

Speaking of which, if you own a Highrider/ZR2/BlaZeR2, or want to find out more about the best little 4X4's around, check out these great sites:

There is also a ZR2 discussion group, which is very fun for talking about our special trucks and in getting ideas, help, and useful information. I have learned a great deal from the list. ENJOY!
