Modern societies, and even modern economies, thrive on ending pain. Why this war against pain? What did pain ever do . . . to . . . well, sure, pain hurts. But people often don't realize the good aspects of pain.
Without pain, there could be no life. Pain is the impetus for change. If a lions claws weren't so painful, what would make the gazelle run faster?
Well, that didn't take long. I felt myself really struggling with the direction the speech should take. As you can see, the ideas presented do not flow. It is best not to try and pursue this any further right now. Perhaps my ideas will be more cohesive after I have pondered this subject further, but now, I am going to fall back to my second speech topic, the importance of existentialism.
